I am a salaried employee. "Here's your money, get the job done." Stretches like the one I'm currently in, make me wish I were hourly. It is not about the money, I probably wouldn't make more. It would be nice to have someone besides myself tracking the hours (four 15 hour days among the last seven). It occurs to me that sometimes they know not what they ask.

Nothing fun is keeping me up at night. Or more accurately, waking me early. I'm in the midst of a touch stretch at work. Nothing new about that, they come up regularly. Even with a long to do list and solutions not yet identified for all the things on it, I can typically fall asleep pretty easily. The problem is I wake up at 2 or 3 or 4 in the morning with my head full of work and can't get back to sleep.
I read. I do what work I can from home. I fume. It will calm down in a few weeks, for a few weeks. Then there will be a similar cycle.
The warm summer months are looking pretty attractive right now.

The local buyer's guide published a small feature on local fish frys, a Wisconsin tradition particularly for Lent. There were perhaps a dozen restaurants within a 30 minute drive (within my town nothing is more than 15 minutes away) that I've never been to. My goal is to hit a different one every week until Easter. (Not religious here, just like to eat.) I got started last night with a place that served blue gill (which I've rarely had since being a ), potato pancakes and a pretty good slaw.

The other day I posted about homemade vs commercial. (thanks for the porn links, btw)
I came up with another homemade love, Irish Cream. I have friends who make up a bunch of bottles to share each Christmas season. The bottle is only 16 oz so I'm careful to savor it. I had a couple of shots over ice after a 12 plus hour workday yesterday. That cream went down so smoothly.

Homemade is often the best. I love a home cooked meal. A handmade present can be so sweet. Homemade porn, way better than almost all commercial stuff. There are exceptions of course. But I'll usually start with homemade.

Sinatra mentioned having a few regrets in "My Way. " I have a handful of regrets too. None too serious, but still.
I needed to both work and play harder in college, both undergrad and grad school. I was bright enough to cruise to solid high grades but could have gotten so much more had I really pushed myself.
Socially, I was shy and insecure so I didn't work hard at playing either. I tried to date without much success. I didn't explore sexually. Once I found a woman who was interested I kinda locked in but without enough experience to know that was the right thing to do.
80's rock music. I was into a snooty classical music mode then. Nothing wrong with that but when I go back and listen to 80's rock I wish I had been paying attention to what was playing in the bars. The stage play of Rock of Ages is great. Check it out if you get the chance. DO NOT think the movie version of Rock of Ages comes close. It isn't remotely and I can't recommend that ANYONE see it.
Weed? All of the states that are legalizing it have me thinking. I tried it back in the day. and wasn't impressed. Do I need to reconsider? Might it fall into the same category now as a fine martini?
Jobs? I've had the same one for decades. And it is a good one. But would I be better for having been challenged more?
