Once again

Once again
written December 7th, 2020

When heaven turns from light to dark
the substance remains the same
but the sense of it changes.

What was just clearly seen
now shadows only hint at
ghostly outlines of mouse giants.

Now the moon with her varied phases
rules the shaded depths
in this time of her dominion.

The petals of the moss rose
curl up in close surrender
bereft of the sun's bright light.

That which was bold
curls up under evergreens
to sleep on a bed of pine needles.

Owls pierce the night sky
derisive of the night-blind masses
as they dive for their just rewards.

All waits for the heavens
to turn back once again
from dark to light.

Yes, more dark and light. Some of these last few poems were written at different times and the common theme made me think of them together. And it bugs the heck out of me how this site deletes words. It really doesn't like the word "to". I can't imagine why. I swear they go up the way I intend, and the next time I look things are missing.

A nice poem, but there is so much to hate about A F F, other than its dislike of the word "to", lol

Hope you are well

Hello! I'm doing very well. Thank you for asking. Have been doing something very revolutionary for me, and have been reading some history. I keep meaning to post about it in my little group. How are you? What are you reading? What was your favorite book or books of the year? Hugs!

The site does go through spells of dismembering our posts, and it's been happening for a long time. They never admit they're doing it and claim there's no problem every time it happens. One workaround is to repeat the post in your first comment, or just use the first comment space alone and post one or two words in the actual post. Or you can post as a graphic, using a screen shot of your text instead of typing, copying or pasting. (They still lose photos, though, so that isn't perfect.

I've had problems with the erotic stories pages too. I had to edit my story there several times before it stuck.

Your poem is lovely, senfully. Please keep posting and don't give up!

Thank you for the suggestions. The first few times I thought it was me, except I keep copies of my poems elsewhere and they were fine. I'll probably just keep doing like I'm doing. Thank you for reading and commenting. It encourages me to keep writing, though I don't plan on stopping lol.

Your poem makes me think of moving from dark to light as moving from the unknown into the knowing.
I hope that makes sense.

Elevate me...

Of course it makes sense! That's what I love about poetry. Someone writes it and might have one or a few things in mind. Then people read it and bring their own things to it. Thank you for reading and commenting. It's very nice to meet you.

Not only is dark/light a common theme but so is nature. You do wonders with all of them. It’s true the reader can come away with a different interpretation than the writer intended but that is the unwritten contract between both sides. Neither is invalid and many times, wonderful insights are revealed.

Definitely agree! That's one of the things that I love about reading poetry. I can make of it anything I want at the time. I read the same poem another time, and something else comes up. It's so interesting. Thank you for reading and commenting!
