New Agreement reached ..

Posted to CBC Global news May 10th 2019.
Its Official and a tremendous effort by over 108 Countries around the world , an agreement was reached to finally ban use of plastics , this means putting tighter regulations on global trade in plastic waste...108 Countries came to a binding agreement on Friday the 10th of May..This is a legal and binding agreement .The agreement was to amend the " Basel Convention" which allows global trade in plastic waste more transparent and better regulated. It is good news and because it ensures that its management is safer for human health and for the enviroment.
The discussion and signing of the agreement was held in Geneva, legal and binding , sees pollution from plastic waste acknowledged as the major enviromental problem of epic proportions globally.with an estimated 100 million tons of plastic now found in the Oceans, 80-90 % of which comes from land based sources..The deal affects products used in a broad array of industries such as health care, technology , and aerospace , fashion, food and beverages .
The negotiations lasted 11 days and brought together 1400 delegates ...This number was better than expected , Canada is a signatory to the Basel Convention.Officials contributed the progress partly to the growing concern of public awareness ...being reinforced on documentary films by naturalist David Attenborough ...who we know narrates the programs on Netflix...on these epic films it clearly is seen how much of the population of sea creatures and birds are greatly affected by the growing mass of throw away items that get into the Oceans ..
Three of the greatest impacted are ...Pacific sea birds dine on trash that wash up on the shores globally
Most sea birds and Fish have copious amounts of plastic in their gut
Toxic metals from plastic left on beaches are leaching into the worlds ecosystem
My opinion is that if the agreement is addressed within a reasonable amount of time instead of something that will drag on and be hashed over for years it will be a good thing to know that in many years to come the oceans will once again thrive, but on the other hand is it too late? Alot of mammals and seabirds have already died because of the amount of things that have become drifting masses of waste ....their deaths will sort of be vindicated if this plan works..

Hoping the U.S.A. is part of this accord...But the dumb ass we have leading the country doesn't have much of a positive track record in ecology/environment...

Let's hope some serious steps begin to happen to curb this. I recently came from two different eateries with left overs in guess what- styro!! People gotta wake up. Maybe the take-away carton suppliers need to refuse to sell styro

maybe just maybe instead of looking for fancy, expensive solutions to the great plastic problem. we should look to simple, cheep, recycling solutions. the ones that will also impact our dependence on oil used in the production of virgin plastic.

years ago the quebec government but a five cent charge on soda cans and plastic bottles, also on beer cans.
any store the sold the product had to except the returns.
the people that cared about the planet now had a place to return the cans and bottles
the ones that did not do not care just throw them away...BUT they do not make it to the trash. the street people collect them and return them for cash.
the question would be if the solution is so simple, and the end results so effective. why did the government not extend it to more plastic containers
so now we have a ten cent charge on plastic bags but no return policy
can you believe that... they find a system that works and don't expand it.
but they feel if it increases production by millions we will respect it more.
wake up people. think simple. fancy systems make rich people richer. corrupt people more corrupt
simple solutions save money, resources, and provide income for street people... sounds like a win, win, win for me

there is a world of difference between insanity and stupidity

I hope it does educate the mainstream of the public masses as to what really is important in the human world ..just because we are on a sex site does not always mean that we are not meant to be aware of our world and what happens in the areas that make up our planet..

Neither did the last dumb ass- I pick up cans along the highway- what do you do as far as picking up trash in our world? Why does it always boil down to having someone else take the lead? Every state has the resources to pick up trash- what do you do to help out?

what have i done ? My Mother was an avid recycler she was a no nonsense dont cut corners type of woman..us kids learned to toe the mark there ..no bs do it or i will teach you..lol I was the one who collected pet food from the major food stores for the local spca which didnt have a shelter , instead they had to rely on the foster homes to take in abused and neglected animals, for 11 years i did this till one of the shelters needed it more..since i was not part of the shelter system i compromised and shared half with them ...thats my part...

well i am not part of the usa system and o not wonder why your president does not do his part but i am not a fan of pessimists who dont believe that the changes will take place ..who is to know when this will come to be hopefully sooner as opposed to later but by being a pessimist it does not help..you do what you do and hopefully you are getting some satisfaction from it...or leave it lay for the next ..I am in a wheelchair and believe me if i can optimistically see a better outcome from my wheelchair then i hope you will too or others like you who dont see any change ...sad outlook indeed if everyone thought that way.

yes i agree that was and still is a part that still is under pressure to fix..I did read an article where the plastic holders of pop and beer ...My thing is if they can make cardboard holders for 12 -15-18 or more to hold cans of beer or pop why not do it for 6 packs of them as well..they sell 6 pk mini cans of pop it costs more to make a plastic holder than it does a box...duh! thanks
