Cell phones in scools..ban?
Cell phones in scools..ban? Obviously cell phone usage by students while they are in classrooms really is getting way out of control..Its disrupting for any teacher whose sole purpose to earn a living is to teach their perspective subject...the constant buzzing of cell phones even on silence its still quickly becoming a constant source of distraction and for the students who are there to study. Finally one school is going to set a precedence and the next school year has decided to ban cell phones from entering the classroom...Ontario ! The province will issue a directive to all public schools for the 2019-2020 school year. The Canadian press has learned that there are other schools already having a policy in place but the directive that will be issued will see all schools ban cell phone usage in the class rooms...Its about time says the students who are there to study and learn..some students say its hard enough to learn the things being taught but when they have to try and listen to the teacher and try to avoid the other students texting and playing on cell phones their studies are falling way short of what they expect.. The directive would prohibit cell phone use during instructional time.enforcement of the ban would be up to the individual boards and schools.Government sources who are not authorized to speak publicly say exceptions would be made for when teachers want to use cell phones as part of their lesson for medical reasons and students with special needs.. Well when a ban is put on cell phone use for public safety such as driving and using a cell phone why is it so different not to ban cell phones in the classroom and disrupt students from trying to get an education? Does it not affect the health of a student who is maybe struggling a bit to learn? Of course and those students are standing up to their " its about time " convictions. Good for you , bravo! |

Its about time someone did something about cell phones in the classroom..

Pity we can't ban them period, all this communication and labour saving devices and we are more isolated more lonely and have less time to catch up with friends and family! Yes I am a bit of a Luddite.

we have a hands free law in ga where you cant have phones in your hand while driving , but a lot don't care and still use them. The same in school, students probably share answers on tests and teachers don't teach anymore , they just prep kids for damn tests . We need no damn cell phones in classrooms at all and no teachers putting their lib agenda's in kids heads and for sure no damn islam shit taught in our schools . ok done ranting .

Cellphones are making kids dumb. There are no more problem solving skills, kids can't figure things out for themselves. They just go straight to the cell phone. Cells phone use at early ages causes ADHD, ADD, not to mention a lack of creativity. Who the fuck gets their 8 year old a phone?
| ||
|
Yes I can see that you have a need for such a device but for the masses it's unnecessary, we all survived without them for many years, we never had a telephone when I was a kid.

You are right it should have been nipped in the ass first off when the first kid was caught with one..but when that first kid was caught using the cell phone it wasn't the kids that made a fuss ..lol it was the parents who put up the biggest stink..their kids got away with all sorts of behaviour at home and parents stuck up for their kids because they didn't want to deal with the drama..so the school board tried to keep kids from bringing them in the classroom and the parents said the school and teachers was invading their kids rights..and was probably reading the texts the kids sent to one another....bahahahaha ...kids were asked to put their cells in their locker ..kids laughed at the teachers and the parents backed their kids up...

School is not for kids to learn, it is to make them hate logic, maths and reading, and to train them to be docile employees and consumers. Judging by the results this program has been an overwhelming success. How cell phones fit in I'm not sure. Perhaps they are in schools so the few kids who are accidentally getting educated can be stopped. As for phones causing ADD/ADHD I doubt there is a scrap of evidence for this. A school without cell phones obviously didn't help that commenter, though I suppose he should get points for creativity. Following my advice may cause injury, insanity, financial loss, hemorrhoids, death and superpowers

They were the bane of my existence when I was teaching a college course. It's about time someone has taken this step.

Well I disagree with that statement I blame the parents for that not the schools as I said to one commenter in particular it was tried and failed because parents stood behind their kids saying it was an invasion of their privacy..the only thing parents were afraid of was if their little brats didn't have a distraction it would cut into their home life they may actually have to do stuff with their kids thus cutting in on their own time..parents don't interact with their own kids but the government check every month helps with the bills..thats the way I see it.Cell phones don't cause adhd or add its been proven for fact that diet does, not cell phone usage.. As for ADD/ADHD, these are characterized mainly by a lack of tolerance for boredom (there is no trouble with attention span on tasks they find interesting) and lack of tolerance for inactivity (mental activity for ADD, physical activity for ADHD). This is only a problem in institutions that require kids to sit all day doing mindless activities on command. I'm diagnosed, untreated, uncured and highly paid. If there was a treatment to make me "normal" I would never take it. Due to the abuse I received in school for not being a mindless drone I will never see schools as anything but malevolent institutions. Any problem you care to name would be made worse by poor diet. Following my advice may cause injury, insanity, financial loss, hemorrhoids, death and superpowers

I can't believe that cellphones, especially in public schools, were ever not banned. Whether as a way to cheat, a way to bully, a way to take pictures in locker rooms, or just a general distraction, WTF are they doing in schools, at all, ever? Even an herb as sweet as basil is nothing without its bite. Lord Basil

I agree with you hun they need to be banned in the classrooms for sure they are very distracting and the sad thing is some teachers here let them use them in classes which I think is WRONG. Their cell phones should stay in the backpacks at all times!! However, in saying that we had a situation with a gun threat where they kids had to be evacuated from school, it was a serious situation and it's a good thing students had their cell phones on them as they were able to contact us so they could get help and picked up from school.

Quite right they should be banned. But how they go about that is open to question. They could be banned completely from the premises, but it's good for some students they can still be contacted by their parents while they are at school so perhaps that is not practical. Yes, they can always leave a message with the school secretary. I think banning their use in the classroom is enough - either put them on silent or switched off so there are no distractions. Students need to get a grip of what they can and cannot do in society and this is good discipline for them. Plus it may help deal with bullying, that kind of thing. And teachers need protection too from those students trying to shame them, upskirting, etc. Anyone not complying with the rules, or falling foul of them (not switching them to silent) will go through some agreed process - points system, banned from the classroom for a lesson, meeting with parents, etc.

Schools have been making people hate learning since long before cell phones were invented, but the role of parents is undeniable. Many kids will know their parents favourite sports team, few could name their parents favourite scientists. Since I don't consider myself to have a disability I don't do anything about it. If I was having any problems I would indeed check out my diet first. If I had to sit at a desk all day concentrating on stuff I was uninterested in I would have extreme difficulty. As I have no desire to do that I have no need to fix anything through diet or otherwise. School is a completely artificial environment. Not fitting that environment doesn't make a person "disordered" or "disabled". Following my advice may cause injury, insanity, financial loss, hemorrhoids, death and superpowers

Morning, phone shouldn't be in classrooms, it's a distraction! It should be only use on lunch period.

well I am not here to argue one point or another or have any war of words.. we each have our views and its kind of like don't shoot the messenger type of blog I just write what I research and know something about the subject.I grew up different and have different values and traditions as most Native American who were taught the old fashioned way...being disabled I do have a different outlook on life too as much as anyone in my position, I studied diet as a means of proving that diet helps with pain...so maybe other ways and means have to be considered..as I always said if there is no proof I don't believe it. Following my advice may cause injury, insanity, financial loss, hemorrhoids, death and superpowers

way I see it I felt as if I was under a gun for writing a blog to which I already read and was just detailing what I did read ..I don't blog about crap and I certainly don't blog about my private sexual escapades like most seem to want to do on here I blog about real life stories and always have the proof of what I read or can point people in a direction which they can see what I have read...yet I am not saying you are being a dick , just seemed to be a bit argumentative ..everyone has an opinion whether its factual or not my blogs are based on facts .. Cell phone ban in school has a give and take debate. Yes mostly is bad thing cause texting during class is bad thing where they dont learn. But god forbid if something bad happens and need to get someone to help they should have it.
