Non Responses to IMs

Is it just me or does everyone experience total non responsiveness to IMs that you send I always answer people who IM me even if its to tell them that Im not interested. I have found that those who spend a few minutes chatting usualy hook up with me. I do understand that its not always a match for one or another reason but it just seems strange that so many people just cant take a few seconds to respond Please let me know if you experience the same thing as I do

 I have experienced that myself but this site is notorious for showing people online or in IM. I think the key is that when you do IM make sure it shows the icon in IM before you send one. It's more accurate. The profile means nothing

 One thing you might not know is that when you log off of IM your name still appears on the list, sometimes for more than an hour. Also, if I am on IM and engaged in another chat, I won't answer any others that come my way. There are reasons why you may not be getting a response but remember, no one is obligated to answer you.
