More tax cut follies

The GOP is having a hard time cutting taxes. Sad for them. The most popular thing is giving away money, but somehow Repubs are making a mess of that. Why? Most of the goodies are going to the rich individuals and businesses. Welfare for the rich!

Then the next step, the GOP will claim we have to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid because we are running out of money! We cannot let the Federal Debt increase! Too unfair to future generations... So why increase the debt now? Crickets chirping.

Oh we need to boost the economy! Except there is little unemployment in many places and the economy has been adding jobs since March 2009!

So now three GOP senators can stop the tax cut if they vote no. Marco Rubio, Mike Lee and Susan Collins may be those three. John McCain and Thad Cochran may not be well enough to vote as well. If it does not happen until Jan. 2018, then Doug Jones Dem from Alabama may cut the GOP margin. If just two GOP senators, refuse then no go.

What should they have done? Cut payroll taxes to drive demand as working poor and middle class spend their money. Give the Dreamers green cards and legal work permits and they will help the economy. Support families with higher refundable credit and deductions. Increase the personal exemptions instead of ending it. Help those who need help. Increase the deduction for loss from fires and disasters, and large medical bills. Allow deduction for college and educational training. Don't tax Social Security and pension payments for those earning less than $100,000 per year.

The GOP is going down in 2018. These guys are mean and stupid. They deserve to lose.
