Age..is a number so important?

I have been on this site and others, and I find the same trend
everywhere. Once you post your age, it's like your
assumed to be out of touch or unattractive.
I take great care in my looks and health. Have been lucky
enough to have been with younger people, and have had a great
time. And by the way..so did they.
Why is a number so important to people, who are looking for
others that have the same intrest. Would it not be easier
to see what the person is like before you shut the door on
what might have been a great experence?
If I went only by age, i would have missed the chance to meet
some wonderful people who are still good friends..
Age..hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........I'm still
