The profile is an important part of this whole online method of finding friends. Profiles with no pictures, no write up puzzle us.
Is it people are too lazy to fill them in? If that's the case why would someone want to take you to bed?
Is it because you have something to hide? If so once you meet in person your odds aren't going to improve.
Is it because you somehow are worried that family or friends will find out? Only way they could do that is if they are on this site and choose your pictures carefully no one will know it is you.
Your profile is your opportunity to sell yourselves. Think of a retail store. Products that offer tasteful pictures that accurately represent the product being offered with a accurate description of what the product can do is much more likely to attract the attention of the savvy shopper then a blank label with no description.
Put some effort into selling yourself. Oh and by the way, having 10 year old photos on your profile could be considered false advertising.
