Why contact if you won't follow through?

Why is it that so many people contact others on here expressing interest and then when you let them know you are also interested, they don't follow through.
Last time I checked this site was to help those of us who want to meet other like minded individuals meet. So if you don't want to actually go through with it, why the hell are you here?
I think that those of us who are very much for real should find a way to try and get rid of those we find to be flakes and let others know.
