Hey, you are in the right place. This, the blogs, is the back door for messages. Ask those you chat with, everyone here has a post for private messages. As for been unable to read messages, they have to make some money from somewhere. They made some from those who messaged you. They want some of yours now lol. Or be a cheapo like me, and sort out your mail box.

STEP A: SET UP YOUR POSTBOX/MAIL ROOM/GUESTBOOK: Go to Blogs (under Community tab, at top banner). (if you have not created a blog before, click Start a New Blog). Next Click on Add A Post. Title it as your blog for guestbook or messages. Write Message: explain how posts in that blog can only be seen by poster and You. Next, down to 'Sticky Post' -- and select Top (so it's at top of your blog page) Next, down to 'Who can View this Post' -- select Only AF members Next, down to 'Who can comment ...." -- select ALL AF members Lastly "I want to pre-review" -- select ALL responses before they show up. This is the important selection You MUST select to pre-review ALL RESPONSES, otherwise messages will show up publicly as in a normal blog. (middle button ... see pic) Check it over then hit red Add button . You now have your own POSTBOX blog. (see, it didn't take more than a couple of minutes, did it??). If you want to later put on extra stuff, go into Edit Post. (at foot of your blog) STEP B: LET PEOPLE KNOW YOU HAVE A POSTBOX If you don't follow through and do this, your effort so far will be wasted. So show the AF community that you now have a way of being seen and contacted. There are three ways to show it: 1. Initially, on your Status note. Later you may want to change status, so ... 2. on the First Line of your Profile. This means it will show up on your hovering Mini- Profile which is all standard members see. 3. On your Signature in blogs. You may not be planning to blog, but now you have created a blog, you will be seen there. That's it! So now, if people see your mini profile, or your blog reply, they will know that you can be contacted and messaged via Blogs. To find you and send message, anyone only has to go into Blogs, do a search of your Name and they will find your PostBox/guestbook and can leave you a message. if you know someone else has a PostBox, you can leave them a message. I agree with you it often is more difficult to communicate but I understand it is how they make $$. The one that gets me is when a woman has in her profile, "Read my profile before you contact me". Well as a Std. Member I can't read your profile. Not because I don't want to, I am prevented from doing so. They you say hi and get blasted saying "can't you read??". so I think it would be better if the profile at least was visible to prevent folks from being contacted who don't want to be. ---------- And....also also, for all, read pocogato's advice, for standard members free comms, viewing profiles, been able to have almost as much fun as a standard on here! And start blogging!!!!

I can totally relate to the frustration of not being able to reply to messages. In fact, I can't even read the incoming messages. They are blurred. I had a gold membership for a short time when it was offered at a discount. I could read my messages and send replies, etc. But when my discounted month ended and I didn't renew...BAM...all my messages, including my replies were blurred again. That seems almost spiteful, doesn't it, lol? Synmyster

If the sites didn't charge to communicate, which is their only tangible function, they would disappear. There are ways to communicate and meet for standard members if they can figure them out. Some people figure people are being cheap by not paying. They also cannot see beyond their own situation or lack of knowledge. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Welcome back and there are some really great people here on the site and some that aren't so much.. And since your a couple look for the icebreaker to come in your settings under your account if they are still doing that couples would get free gold..Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

I am able to communicate with my fans...you need points to gather fans though. The blurred messages only came about about a year ago. I did have a membership but when it lapsed, I refused to buy another one until they can stop all the glitches that appear every time they say they are upgrading something. I refuse to pay for something that is broken often.

I've been on this site a number of years myself. I was reluctant to upgrade to 'gold' after the silver membership option was no longer available ( in which I was happy with) but I just didn't want to miss out in the end.

And just to add to this: Points We are allowed to contact, via IM, up to 5 people without using up any of our points. That seems very reasonable in my opinion. However, those points are used up even if we reply to a message that someone sends us via IM. This means that just by being polite and replying to folk, as I'm sure HotMatch.com wants us to do, we use up our points credit possibly even without initiating contact. We don't want to ignore people even if we are not really interested in developing things further with them but feel it is good etiquette, or netiquette, to respond. However, we are only standard members and we have not paid to use the site so shouldn't really be complaining. We have had a lot of fun out of the site and made some great friends already. Sorry I’m late to the party here, but I have to agree, the pricing and feature model on HotMatch.com is hopeless. Going back to 2010 (my first account here) there was silver and gold membership, now there’s just gold, and it seems that unless you pay even more for ordinary members to be able to view your profile and contact you, the even gold is a waste of time. There are newspaper stories every day saying that millennials are losing interest in sex, but I don’t think that’s the only problem HotMatch.com has, It’s really difficult to make time on here work! HotMatch.com has always had a bedrock of people who are just plain bored and lonely, but feel happier on an annonymous site for “horny” people than they would on a more public site for “lonely” people, truth be told I am one of those people, and I like talking to those people. HotMatch.com has somehow managed to make a site on which there are many pictures of boobs boring.

I agree with you both. I was only a standard member for years and tried to contact you a lot of times. Thanks for the explanation of no reply (which I fully understand and appreciate the explanation) I have just bought a new pc and cam thinking it was my old system not working. I also upgraded to 'gold' to improve communications, to no avail i'm afraid. My cam does not transmit now (black screen only I am told) I have just cancelled 'auto pay' as the whole site seems to be no better than before all my expense.
