Both is the EASY answer my friend. I'm looking for the hard one. For I love asking myself these questions ---- looking back at those past lovers. what attracted you to them the most, or first... if that's easier for you.

I disagree with you. I've met extremely happy overweight people that were extremely positive, had great attitudes were very warm and enlightening. I clearly see for you it is physical attributes though, over the soul within -- since you went on and on about appearance. I am curious though, how would you rate what you said? as far as attitudes... negative? or positive?

Personality and interest because for me physical attributes don't necessarily define a person. I want an attraction the carries depth and weight not a shallow one.

The easy and hard answer-attraction is a balance shared between both a persons Physical Attributes/Body/Beauty [and] the individuals Personality & Interests. Neither is exclusive in my opinion. Excluding bell curve fringes. I see the question as having two experiential parts. What is the initial attraction and what are the variables involved in sustaining attraction? I will admit that through online dating my initial attraction is mostly physical. I see a picture, make an assessment on next step...read profile or not and move forward. Again, initial physical attributes are not the exclusive attraction mechanism however. Reading an email or blog post may generate an interest without the viewing of any photo. Long term attraction for me, involves some manner of attraction that is shared toward an individuals body AND mind. I need both elements and to fully appreciate them time is needed. Peace.

Personality and interests for sure. Yes look are important too, but when it comes down too, id rather date someone who has similar interests with a good personality before someone with great looks, but nothing in common.

I watched my wife walk by my apt and I would check out her fine body. I didn't know her but I found her physically appealing. I got to know her and found her to be the kindest person I have ever known. It will be 10years of marriage next month and if I didn't find her attractive I wouldn't have continued. After I met her, her personality and our common interests have kept us together.

I think the initial attraction is always purely physical while the residual or long term affection is derived from her personality and common interests. {=}

There are no right or wrong answers -- I was just saying I disagree with your assessment, plain and simple. I did however ask you a question that must of touched a soft spot on you --- for, you didn't answer -- and, you took it emotionally.

When you pick up a book, do you skim for images first or go to the back to read what it's about? I tend to be a reader and then, go look for images.
