Teeter Totter

Do you ever feel like you are on a teeter totter in a relationship? What I mean by that is that the relationship is not even or equal. That one of the two of you is way above the other.

It could be intellectually, or physically or most dangerously emotionally. I know that in the past I have given everything I could into relationships. When that isn't returned It just sort of kicks you in the gut. It is like the wind getting taken out of your sails. It sucks and is frustrating as hell. You start to wonder to yourself why is it so hard for the other person to give to the same level that you do. And then we are back to my theory of givers and takers.

I do believe that there are people who give in relationships and people who take. It is okay to waver back and forth between the two and I think most relationships do that to a certain extent. It is just when on starts taking more than giving. It really becomes dangerous.

Why do we teeter totter and not just use the merry go round?
