ARE YOU A SAPIOSEXUAL?

ARE YOU A SAPIOSEXUAL?

A sapiosexual is someone who finds intelligence the most sexually attractive feature. A sapiosexual gets aroused by the human mind. The term derives from the Latin word, sapiens, meaning wise.

One survey found that 44 per cent of women, compared to 31 per cent of men, find it impossible to enjoy sex with a man who is not their intellectual equal.

In the May 2012 issue of the Vangardist magazine, Carolina Montejo wrote: "So, what attracts you? What turns you on? You decide on abstract thought, clever humour and insight. You’re a sapiosexual."

Thinking I may be a sapiosexual, I recently took a sapiosexual test on the lonerwolf website. I was disappointed to score only 69 per cent; definitely no sapiomaniac! Perhaps I’m just a sapiomantic.

I do love a bout of intellectual bantering and flirting as a prelude to sex. Often I enjoy intellectual foreplay more than physical foreplay! Perhaps I’m a sapiosexual after all.

The sapiosexual test consists of twenty (quite leading) questions that seem to measure attraction rather than sexual attraction. While answering the questions, I realised honesty, compassion, empathy and confidence were features that I was attracted to as well as intelligence. For sexual attraction, someone’s personality and body are also important to me.

Can you have, and do you like, sex with someone less intelligent?
Do you regard yourself as a sapiomantic, sapiosexual or even a sapiomaniac?

Below is someone so intellectual, she can read a newspaper upside-down!

I am reasonably intelligent and find intelligent, witty people stimulating.
Not too intelligent, so as to be on a completely different wavelength per-say, but enough to generate constructive communication, debate and humour.

Can you have, and do you like, sex with someone less intelligent? I have. How ever all my FWBs are probably "smarter" than I am. We always have great conversations

Do you regard yourself as a sapiomantic, sapiosexual or even a sapiomaniac? I think sapiosexual. If I saw a lady reading a paper upside down, she would be out on her butt

Just a few remarks ... sapiens does'nt mean wise, but 'who knows'. Culture is by no means cleverness.
And her aper is folded upside down : she actually may read normally. Yet it ain't what we'll watch, will we ?

I don't mind about IQ in my relationships - though brains are a plus, of course. I wouldn't show on my A2F miniature
as a writer otherwise. In this way, I am a sapiomantic, as seduction relies for me in writing ... and being understood.

I have to have sex with less intelligent women

Probably why more men are unconcerned about it...

Imagine if we all had to have someone more intelligent than us... I don't think the sapiosexuals thought that one through.

This stuff just keeps writing itself

And I'm 84% on the sapio sex chart!

I've had sex with people less intelligent than me but if there was a huge difference the relationship didn't last long.

Just took the test too....and got 69%.

Of course. But who gets to decide which of us is smarter? Ever see the movie "Born Yesterday"? I loved Judy Holliday that role- an uneducated chorus girl who was no dummy.

Do you regard yourself as a sapiomantic, sapiosexual or even a sapiomaniac?
No, and I try not to regard myself at all, especially first thing in the morning when my hair is sticking out funny and my eyes are bloodshot. There are a couple of things that irritate the shit right out of me: People who describe themselves as intelligent and people who claim that they don't suffer fools gladly. I think both remarks are arrogant. I scored a seventy per cent on that test. A while ago I took a test on AssPlace that told me if I were a dog I'd be a German Shepherd. If I'm a dog I'm a dumb one...I keep taking these tests. Woof woof.

I had enough knowledge of latin a long time before Google to know sapio is the verb meaning
"to taste of", "to understand" and "to know". Sapiens is its present participle ... Homo Sapiens is just knowing.
It doesn't mean he thinks : so many people use knowledge in a very unwise way, don't you think ?
Google ... is a neat access to a lot of knowledge, yet it is completly dumb

Most of the men I have engaged in sex with are nowhere near my intellectual equal and many have provided the best sex... It's the only thing in life they've made any effort to excel at. I have had sex only a handful of times with an intellectual superior and they were too busy having complex and convoluted thoughts to chill and engage the thrill. Finding an absolute intellectual equal would be close to impossible... What yardstick would you use to precisely analyse this?

I don't, for the most part but I can (with some rare people) experience an intellectual chemistry and have usually felt that with you, S.
I like a bit of intellectual chemistry, but they never taught that at school!

I'm probably more put off with people far more intelligent than me than those who are less intelligent (however measured)!

Intelligence is a thorny subject. Like you, I'm very sceptical of intelligence tests that seem to label and blight many bright people who don't score well. The ultimate would be intelligence testing disguised as genetic screening; welcome to fascism!
What's interesting is how people perceive their intelligence and how others perceive their intelligence.

Oh Hugh, talk nerdy to me! Oh I don't think so, really? I am only average at 59% Why didn't you tell where the test is and what your score was?

Can you have, and do you like, sex with someone less intelligent? Depends on their other attributes, as long as we aren't talking neanderthals. On the other hand someone more intelligent or highly intelligent might just be a prig and I wouldn't be attracted to that at all, would you?

Do you regard yourself as a sapiomantic, sapiosexual or even a sapiomaniac?
I suppose I am also merely a sapiomantic if that.

I am not at all quick witted. I am at quite the disadvantage conversationally and I am afraid you'd be completely disinterested, unless you wouldn't mind passing notes underneath the bedroom door to each other. Then I might be able to rise the occasion and perhaps you'd find me just a little bit interesting...
I did tell you where the test was and what my score was!
I think measuring sapiosexuality and indeed intelligence is quite a bogus exercise.
I don't at all find you boring, quite the opposite; your journey is fascinating!
