Participants In The Thirteenth Virtual Symposium: Sapiosexuality: Intersection Of Smarts And Sex

Welcome to the thirteenth virtual symposium, an informal collection of bloggers who – purely for the hell of it – voted on a single topic ("Sapiosexuality -- The Intersection Of Smarts And Sex") and agreed, on or about November 1, to post their interpretations of that topic. A special shout-out to NaughtyInSO and [blog CalypsoFlame], who suggested the topic which the blogosphere ultimately chose!

There are no prizes or awards, save for the opportunity to build a more-closely knit blog community. All bloggers are invited to participate in this, as well as all future, virtual symposiums. To participate, watch this blog for future symposium topics: We anticipate doing one per month.

The rules, such as they are, are simple: Once the blogosphere voted on a topic, all bloggers were and are invited to interpret the topic as loosely as they choose, and offer any type of post they like which either tangentially or directly addresses the topic, whether through fantasy/fiction, essay, photographs, image collages, poems, one-liners, or any other form they choose. Contact me through a comment on this post to be included on this list, which I will update as new participants make themselves known.

We (that’s the editorial we – or perhaps I have a tapeworm) hope readers will use these virtual forums to discover new, interesting voices. A request of readers: If you find an entry you especially like, please don’t be shy about leaving an attaboy/attagirl on the appropriate blog. Applause never hurts!

A continually updated list of participants can be found below: Please check back often, as I’ll add new posts as often as appropriate (and as other responsibilities allow). Please leave a note here if I haven’t included your submission!

Note: The site's system is being temperamental about posting hot links: Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't... sometimes they take a few attempts. If a link isn't hot, please track down the appropriate blogs. They're worth it.

AND... BY ALL MEANS, IF YOU HAVEN'T CONTRIBUTED AND WANT TO, PLEASE DO SO! Was hoping to get most of the submissions input at the start of the day... but people do keep checking the list for new contributors... so if you're so moved, write a post and let me know here so I can include you.

Hey, gang, looks like we picked up some new participants! Check the list, and give ‘em an appropriately inappropriate welcome!

In no particular order at all, our participants include:

Glad you enjoy it, though...

Cult?I have a serious spiritual connection with this equipment! Say...are you likening me to a sapiosexual? It could be true...have you SEEN these Retina displays? I thought it had to be overrated, but damn! This is fine! There is nothing like non-pixelated pudenda!

This may be the most powerful argument in favor of enriching the Steve Jobs estate I've ever seen.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to participate this month, I'm running a high fever, and can't get my thoughts together, but still enjoy reading the posts from those who participated. The day is still young........I'm still going to try later on but for now, it seems as I'll be out. xoxoxoxox

HL,
You sexy sapiophile, you!
Here, you go and admit, in the comments no less, that you have so much putting this symposium together. I can't hardly believe you EXCEPT that you continue to do this every month. So you are either a glutton for punishment (shades of BDSM?) or you must really like us. Either way, kisses to you on the tip of your nose from me to you for being so wonderful to all of us and doing this, month in, month out (hm, in, out? What is that making me think of? Oh never mind...)

And unfortunately, I cannot let you insult my previous lap top or my current one by insisting that my love of them is due to brainwashing of the cult of "Apple". That's neither true nor fair. I used to have PCs and my dad still owns one that I have to work on with him periodically and it frustrates me to no end that the user interface is not as conducive to my productivity like my Mac books'. I will forgive this transgression on your part if you promise me a hot oil massage while reciting sonnets to me.
What?! A gal can dream, can't she?
Sincerely and tongue-very-much-in-oh-dear,
Kk

The observant make the best lovers,
I may not do right, but I do write,
I have bliss, joy, and happiness in my life,

Shh... don't tell anyone, but I'm going to be late in putting up my own contribution this month. You've been a wonderful and consistent participant: If you're moved to write something, whenever you have it the symposium will be here for you.

For now, though, the prescription is rest, clear fluids (I find not having 'em straight from the fridge when I have a fever makes it easier to drink more, which is very, very helpful) and catching up on favorite TV shows.

Feel better fast!

Hey, wanna know a secret? The symposium deadline is more of a request: Yes, it's a little easier for me if I'm posting a big chunk of contributions at once, but the real reason I ask for 'em early is so folks can catch the wave of people coming here and working their way down the list.

"Early" has a lot of meanings, by the way. East Coast, West Coast, overseas... by my lights you ARE early. But then, on Sundays I define "early" as "any point after midnight and before coffee." And I have not yet had coffee.

Very careful readers will note that I haven't put up one of my own yet... and probably won't for a bit. Your posts from symposia past have been informed and entertaining, and despite your protests I'm looking forward to reading your contribution. So thank you!

Kk:

You ain't gonna get all Sally Fields on me, are you? I like you, I really like you! (It's times like these that I wish the English language had a plural "you." Yes, yes, I know: "yuh" and "y'all," Right? Doesn't fly above the Mason-Dixon line, though...)

What can I say? For me, sapiosexuality is the symposium theme every month, even if bloggers dress it up with other clothes such as "food" "slut" or "Kierkegaardian ethics."

As for Apple products: I do not argue that some people find them useful tools. I do not argue that some people believe that for certain functions they perform better than PCs or other smart devices. But I will absolutely maintain that PC users treat their machines as tools, while Apple users treat them as totemic item. I further submit that if Tim Cook ever called on hard-core Apple users to rise up and kill at his whim, he would make Pol Pot look like a Girl Scout.

I'm off to replenish my supply of almond oil. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate...

Smart 'n' sexy seems to be the entry fee here at Symposium Central... participants are definitely a cut above the rest of the site!

And... a side note: I've found that some of the most successful symposia have resulted from topics suggested by participants. So feel free, folks...

Looks like a great turnout today -- and from my quick views as I scoop up links, people really put a lot of thought (heh) into their contributions. Great stuff.

Thank you, Sweet, for continuing to be a symposium booster and contributor!
