Babies (One, at least)
Babies (One, at least) I've been sharing pics on FB and to various coworkers via email at work. Might as well share here... My cat has been grounded, not allowed outside until the baby is grown a bit more. Or at least only with supervision. After 2 days (3? I need to double check) she started shoving stuff off dressers to let me know how mad she is that I'm not letting her outside. She's mostly cutely begging "Please" over and over again till I'm about to go insane. Bunnies. Baby Bunnies. Which somehow the momma bunny had decided in front of MY apartment (the only one with an indoor/outdoor cat who... eats baby bunnies) is THE place for her baby to hide. Hiding Baby Bunny: Not hiding Baby Bunny: My new habit is "try not to accidentally step on the baby" and hobby "find where the baby is hiding". Tonight his brown body was curled up between green grass and grey cement block. Only his small size and that most don't know he's around keeps him hidden. And I totally love the little white strip on his forehead |

Keeping a cat off her prey is a challenge. Wishing you luck with that.

A year or so ago, my mom discovered that one of the neighborhood stray cats had dug up an underground nest of baby rabbits. We tried to protect the survivors, but we failed. The cat eventually got them all. All four of our cats are indoor only. They don't seem to mind, except for Byron. When an outside door is carelessly left open, he disappears for a few weeks. That's happened twice. Byron got out just two or three days after we adopted him, but that time he got up on a window mounted air conditioner and cried to get back in. Felix will stand at an open door and sniff the outdoor air without trying to go out. Fluffy has gotten out maybe two or three times, but she sticks close to the house so it was easy to round her up. I think Cleo is too lazy to care about getting out.
